Previous Litter - Geneva and Crewe -  11 pups (6 M and 5 F) born January 11, 2018.

Setherwood Geneva

Geneva is a big light-coloured girl with a smooth straight coat. She is a lover of life, always in a good mood and ready for a romp outside. Geneva has clearances for hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, detectable heart defects and eye cataracts

Ch. Bowbell's Rigged'n Ready "Crewe"

Crewe is a fairly big boy with a beautiful medium gold coat and excellent pigmentation. He won his show championship easily due to his wonderful structure and cheerful nature that are so obvious to all who meet him. His pedigree combines some of the good old lines from Canada and the U.S.A.

Birthday - January 11, 2018.

After spending a very restless night, Geneva delivered her first pup at 11:40 this morning and her last at 8:40 pm. Her 11 pups (6 boys and 5 girls) all came easily and weighed between 12 and 18 ounces.  They were active and nursed quickly.

Waiting for something to happen.

Admiring the result.

One week old - January 18, 2018.

Geneva's pups are acting and growing as expected. Geneva is a dedicated mother, spending almost all of her time with her pups. As she can't nurse all 10 (Isla has one of her pups) at the same time, she nurses 5 while the other 5 sleep in heated green bins. We then change the groups each hour during the day. Geneva has all 10 overnight.

Everyone is doing well and we do not anticipate any problems.

Geneva nursing 5.

This takes total concentration.

Five cooking over low heat.

Even at one week, siblings are appreciated.

Almost two weeks old - January 24.

The pups have continued on from last week. Geneva still spends almost all of her time with them but does take the odd break. The pups' eyes are open
just a bit and they are starting to try to walk (the pups, not the eyes). So all is as we would expect from 2 week-old pups.

Feeding is over. Sleeping is under way.

Eyes are beginning to open.

Just over 3 weeks old - February 2.

We normally try to feed some solid food (
Royal Canin starter kibble soaked until mushy) in the fourth week. Most litters eat it well but Geneva's pups devoured it. They all ate immediately and continued until it was all gone. This will give them increased nutrition and will help Geneva to maintain her weight over the next 4 weeks.

Here are a few pictures.

The Mug Shots

At about this time, we put coloured collars on the pups so we can identify them as they go through the last weeks with us. Then we take pictures of the pups showing their most intelligent expressions. Here they are!

Visitors - February 4.

It was a full house. We started with Geneva's litter then added most of Isla's pups so everyone had a pup to cuddle. Everyone - humans and pups - enjoyed the experience. And at the end, the pups were all asleep.

Here are the pictures.

Visitors - February 11.

Another full house.  We tried to show pups' new trick where we open the gate and they all stream out of the pen. Most declined so we had to carry them out as usual. Maybe next week.

OK. Let's see your party trick!

Some were keen.

Others not so much,

All together now.

The pups and the visitors really enjoy their time together and is a big part of the pups' socialization. Here are some pictures taken today. The last one shows the pups devouring their after-visitor snack of goat's milk and pablum.

Visitors - February 18.

The pups will soon be 6 weeks old. At this point all is well. The weaning process will be completed in the next week. Deworming is continuing. The pups are active and confident, as these pictures show.

Waiting for the hoards.

The hoards have arrived.

Hey! I'm here too!

Can I watch the Olympics on this?

Oh yes. I'm MUCH nicer than the other Miss Pink.

Oh yes. I'm MUCH nicer than the other Miss Pink.

Hey! You said there were treats in here!

YIKES! What did I do to cause that?

Going home - March 4, 2018.

After weeks of waiting, the day to take them home has arrived. The pups have been weaned, vet-checked, vaccinated, micro-chipped, socialized and matched to their new owners. They are completely ready for the next big adventure.

It is a bitter-sweet time for us as we always enjoy our time with each group but we know that all the pups are going to people who will give them the love and care they deserve. Our thanks to yet another group of great owners. We have enjoyed meeting and getting to know them and we thank them for choosing Setherwood Goldens.
